Bring your own key

Use your OpenAI API key with EasyChat AI.

BYOK gives you a direct connection from EasyChat AI to the OpenAI API. It is optional—the standard EasyChat experience works without your own key.

Before you begin

OpenAI API billing is separate from a ChatGPT subscription. OpenAI charges for API usage according to the models and features you use. EasyChat AI does not sell or provide OpenAI API keys.

Set up your key

  1. Open the OpenAI Platform.Sign in or create an OpenAI account, then set up API billing if required for your account.
  2. Create a secret API key.Create a new key in the OpenAI dashboard. Copy it when it is shown and keep it private.
  3. Open Settings in EasyChat AI.Find the API section and expand “Use your own OpenAI API key.”
  4. Enter the key and enable BYOK.Paste the key into the API key field, review the status shown by the app, and enable the option when you are ready.

How your data moves

With BYOK enabled, your chat requests go directly from the app to OpenAI. OpenAI processes requests under its API terms and data controls.

Without BYOK, chat content passes through the EasyChat service to OpenAI so the app can provide a response. Read the Privacy Policy for the full distinction.

Keep your key safe

  • Never email, post, or share your API key.
  • Review usage and limits in your OpenAI account.
  • Revoke and replace the key in the OpenAI dashboard if you think it was exposed.
  • Model availability can change; use the current options shown inside EasyChat AI.
